  CHAPTER 2: WOUNDED, WITLESS & WITAFacility??! By way of background, I worked in the law for 20+ years until my beloved father had a stroke at the age of 80 in 2009.  It was then that I quit the law to care for him full-time as his in-home caretaker.  His stroke was initially very bad.  He was vacationing with his brothers in West Virginia and the stroke happened when he was driving back home to Missouri.  He ended up in a rural hospital in KY.  They misdiagnosed his obvious stroke symptoms in the ER as “vertigo” and tried to send him back on the road driving.  This was (and sadly still is) the standard of care for stroke patients in America, folks.  A simple glance at the website for the American Stroke Association back in 2009 even admitted the following grave statistic: “87% of all strokes are misdiagnosed in the ER.” What are we even doing here, America?
